Three inputs. Age at dismissal, full years of continuous service, and gross weekly pay. The calculation applies the statutory caps automatically and tells you if it has.

How old were you (or were they) on the date of dismissal?
How many full years of continuous service?
Length of service is capped at 20 years. You need at least 2 full years to qualify.
Weekly pay before tax and other deductions.
Pay is capped at £751 per week (statutory cap, April 2026).

This is the floor. Not the ceiling.

A statutory minimum payment is only part of the cost picture. The bigger numbers sit in the process itself. Legal fees if you are challenged. Tribunal exposure of up to £123,543 if the redundancy is found unfair, uncapped from 1 January 2027. Management time burnt on every stage. Reputation cost with the team left behind.

A 15 minute call walks through your specific situation and gives you a clear view of what the total cost of getting it wrong looks like. And what it costs to get it right.

What this calculator does not tell you.

The figure above is the statutory minimum redundancy payment only. It is one line on the spreadsheet. A complete cost picture needs four more things the calculator does not touch.

Notice pay: Separate from redundancy pay. Statutory minimum is one week per year of service, up to twelve weeks. Taxable whether worked or paid in lieu.

Tax: The first £30,000 of a redundancy payment (statutory or enhanced) is normally tax-free. Anything above is subject to income tax and may also be subject to employer National Insurance contributions.

Whether the redundancy itself is fair: If a tribunal finds the process was unfair, the compensatory award is currently capped at £123,543 (or a year's pay, whichever is lower). From 1 January 2027, under the Employment Rights Act 2025, that cap is removed.

Protective award exposure: If you are proposing twenty or more redundancies at one establishment, failure to consult collectively can cost 180 days of gross pay per affected employee (the April 2026 rate, doubled from 90 days).
